XVI. Residency Reclassification
All first year graduate students are required to seek residency reclassification (if applicable). The Department will not cover the costs of non-resident tuition for students in their second year if they could have been reclassified. The student will bear the cost, approximately $15,000 in non-resident tuition for an academic year.
This is a two step process, detailed here.
- During your first quarter, establish ties with the state of California. Change your driver's license, voter's registration, vehicle registration, bank account, etc. grads.html
- During your first summer, submit your Petition for Change of Legal Residence.
