XVI. Residency Reclassification

All first year graduate students are required to seek residency reclassification (if applicable).  The Department will not cover the costs of non-resident tuition for students in their second year if they could have been reclassified.  The student will bear the cost, approximately $15,000 in non-resident tuition for an academic year.

This is a two step process, detailed here.

  1. During your first quarter, establish ties with the state of California.  Change your driver's license, voter's registration, vehicle registration, bank account, etc.  grads.html
  2. During your first summer, submit your Petition for Change of Legal Residence.
