Faculty Chairs and Professorships
Faggin Family Presidential Chair for the Physics of Information
The Faggin Family Presidential Chair for the Physics of Information shall be appointed to a distinguished member of the UC Santa Cruz faculty researching fundamental questions at the interface of physics and related fields including mathematics, complex systems, biophysics and cognitive science, with the unifying theme of information in physics.

Anthony’s research is on cosmological inflation and eternal inflation, the nature of dark matter and dark energy, foundations of quantum mechanics, black hole evaporation and interiors, the role of information theory in physics, and thermodynamic and statistical arguments in a multiverse.
Long Family Professorship in Experimental Physics
The Long Family Professor in Experimental Physics supports the research of a tenured member of the UC Santa Cruz faculty in the Department of Physics whose research focuses on experimental physics.

Bruce's research is in experimental particle physics, and in the development of enabling instrumentation that can support numerous fields including, in addition to particle physics, accelerator physics, photon science and fusion energy science and commercialization. He maintains leadership roles in both the Advanced Accelerator Diagnostics Collaboration and the PIONEER collaboration, the latter being developed to measure several fundamental symmetries of nature to exquisite precision.
