Jason Nielsen joins U.S. ATLAS management team

Jason Nielsen, Assistant Professor of Physics and a member of the Santa Cruz Institute for Particle Physics, has been appointed to the U.S. ATLAS operations management team.  The ATLAS experiment, located at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, collects data from high-energy proton-proton collisions to measure particle interactions and search
for new physics.

Nielsen started on March 1 as the Deputy Analysis Support Manager and will become the Analysis Support Manager after a year as Deputy.  He will be responsible for initiatives that directly support and strengthen ATLAS physics studies in the United States.  Approximately 700 physicists, engineers, and students from 44 U.S. institutions participate in the ATLAS collaboration.
